Slow Morse QSO's.

I have been doing it for years now, but I mentioned it on the MPP list and they suggested that I do some research and find others and get it publicised. There are a surprising number of groups doing slow Morse and the rest of the amateur population could well do knowing about this.

I have undertaken the task of setting up the MTG (Morse Training Group) on the understanding that it is a sister group of the MPP and not part of the MPP. The groups in the list have free reign to do the training as and when they see fit. The group is only here to help advertise the existence of the group.

The methods of training vary. I favour the QRS QSO method as it is far less boring for me, it gives receiving and QSO formation training for those who want it and those first very valuable QSO's for those wanting wet their feet! I send CQ QRS QSO at 12 WPM and when stations reply I will reduce my speed to match their receiving ability as best I can judge. If a station comes back too fast I will ask them to QRS if it is a strong station in the UK, if weak I let him send at his speed but I will stay at 12 WPM, this gets the QSO over as speedily as possible!

Other groups use their own methods...

The activity that I have found in the UK at present is as follows.... but still looking for more!!

QRS QSO Information. Some operators send text others QRS QSO for begginners to take the plunge or just listen and copy

The 80 m frequency band I have recommended is 3562 to 3570 and the frequencies quoted are only approximate as stations may have to move to avoid QRM.
